TAC-606

Dual symbiotic 303 synthesiser. Two acid voices, one shared obsession with squelch.

v0.9.6

What is TAC-606?

TAC-606 is two TB-303s in a trenchcoat pretending to be one plugin. And the trenchcoat has a distortion pedal.

Each voice is a complete 303 emulation — PolyBLEP oscillator, 4-pole ZDF diode ladder filter, dual RC-path accent envelope, the whole analogue-modelled package. But unlike a real 303, these two voices are connected through a coupling engine with 6 symbiosis algorithms that let them cross-modulate, share resonance feedback, and produce harmonics that no single 303 could dream of.

Dedicated to Tadao Kikumoto, the Roland engineer who designed the original TB-303. We just gave his invention a friend.

Distortion that thinks

Eight distortion models, and five of them are neural networks trained on real pedal circuits — DS-1, RAT, TS-9, Big Muff, DOD 250. Plus ADAA tape and tube saturation for when you want warm instead of angry. The neural models run via RTNeural with SIMD inference, so they sound analogue but cost almost nothing on your CPU.

Claude Mode

Four generative algorithms write acid patterns for you. Euclidean spacing, Markov chains, Genetic evolution, and Chaos. It’s like having a jam partner who’s really into techno and never needs a toilet break.

The sequencer

16-step with accent, slide, probability, ratchets, conditional triggers, micro-timing, and per-step parameter locks. MIDI export when you want to keep what it generates. Undo/redo because sometimes the best pattern was three edits ago.

Who it’s for

Acid heads. Techno producers. Anyone who’s ever thought “this track needs more squelch” (it always does).
